A core goal of Yuva Nestham is economic empowerment. Toward this end, we are implementing income-generating activities (IGA) for participants. IGAs, which include making sanitary pads and earrings, give students an opportunity to learn tangible and marketable skills, gain leadership experience, and learn about finance management and marketing.
The activities were identified through market research, feedback from children and teachers, and feasibility of implementation. Students are trained by local technical experts from the business development sector.
The profits from the products being sold on the local market are then used for the purchase of school infrastructure needs. The schools follow stringent accounting procedures to maintain up-to-date records and are open for undergoing external audits.
